Today Pete visited Tess at school. Her classroom sits on the ground floor at the edge of the school yard - across the way from the building that houses Emily's classroom. This means we can wander in before school starts. Sometimes we sit and read a book. It's all much more accessible than grade schools back in the US.
Tess's July birthday comes just three weeks before the age cutoff making her one of the youngest kids in class. 9am to 3pm every day makes for a long day for her but when I look around at her classmates they all look similarly young to me. Tess still tears up and clings when we part each morning but so do many of her friends.
I know Tess will come to love school but for now she's still figuring it out. It's been quite warm lately (humid and in the 80s) and I worry that Tess forgets to drink water. The other day I peaked in before pickup and found her lying on the floor in a sweaty heap. Poor girl.
In Kindie kids still get to lie down and nap during the school day. Tess loves that part because she adores being cozy.
In other news, this is our local postman. Kids aren't the only ones that wear big hats around here.
