Dad Dad Dad Dad Dad Dad. Tessie's welcome home picture says it all. And then there's a princess and a cool house with two roofs and a chimney and we sort of lose the thread but its still neat looking.
This morning Daddy came back after a whirlwind eight day business trip to the US. He made incredibly productive use of his time away. He managed to stay with his brother, check in on our house, see friends in DC and Boston, get together for big family events with both his mother's and father's sides of the family, and still get meaningful work done!
We girls made good use of our time as well although in more of a rainy day craft making, haircut getting, library visiting, playdate and movie watching kind of way. It felt strange to be staying in Sydney knowing that Brian was on a work trip in Boston.
I was really envious of his visit home but I also know that it is emotionally complicated to go back and forth. While we are here we are all about Australia. We love it here. We want to soak it all in and appreciate every moment. Still, Boston is home and I know we will be back there.
I knew having Brian make the trip meant he could bring some things back for us. I racked my brain for what we were missing but the things I really want - Monty, our bed, our kitchen, our friends and family - won't fit in a suitcase. So I settled for a garlic press and some canned clams. And I rest assured knowing the other things are waiting for us when we get back.
