Arrowtown - Day three

For our last day in New Zealand we began by driving around admiring the beauty. This is a country where you can take a picture like this one out of your car window as you drive over a bridge.

Based on advice from the NZ Frenzy book we drove up the gravel road to the Remarkables ski area to admire the views from above. We stared out at beautiful Queenstown and watched the planes come in and out.

This is looking over towards Arrowtown at the Shotover River.

I love this picture of us because you can see how happy and relaxed we were.

Brian continues to be the master of self-timer photography.

We returned again to lovely Arrowtown for one last french lunch at Bonjour and another dose of pretty fall colors.

We decided to top off our trip with a jet boat tour. The Shotover Jetboats are on a lot of people's Queenstown must do list. We weren't sure the kids would like it but as it turns out they did. We all did. Our driver zoomed up and down, whizzed us around in circles, soaked us, and took us right up to the canyon walls. We shrieked and laughed and grinned from ear to ear. At the end of the thirty minute trip my cheeks were sore from smiling. It felt good to go out with a bang!

So our New Zealand adventure came to a close. It was amazing - perhaps one of the best trips we've done and we've done some amazing trips. We felt really grateful to get to explore this lovely, gorgeous, friendly, safe and accessible country. Now we are back "home" in warm and sunny Sydney - a lovely treat in its own right.

  1. More gorgeous pics! It's very odd to see fall colors - it feels like we're getting to the end of spring here. All the flowers are off the trees and all the green is coming out. Missing you - can't wait to talk next week :-)
