Our sweet Emmy turned six and a half today. We don't normally give much attention to half birthdays but I always liked how the girls' preschool allowed kids with summer birthdays to celebrate on their half birthdays instead. Brian, Tess and I each get to celebrate our birthdays here but we will be back home before November comes so we decided to give Emily her special day.
She brought cupcakes to school to share with her class. She even saved the extras to dole out amongst her friends from Tessie's class at our daily after school time at the swings.
These days while the other girls swing Emily generally spends her time adoring little Caelin. She begs his mum to let her push him in the swing. She loves to pick him up, too. She's desperate to be a mother's helper and some day a babysitter "just for babies".
We also took today as an occasion to have Emily's dear friend Maya over for a play date.
Maya brought her keyboard and played Happy Birthday on it for Ems.
Maya also drew a stack of cards for Ems including this special one for her "harf" birthday. Aw. Between Boston and Australia my girls seem destined to end up dropping their r's!
She ended the day with a blanket fort on the floor with Tess. Can you believe we plan to tack Mother's Day onto this week as well? I guess our girls will take any excuse for cards, treats, hugs and a lot of I love yous.
Love these. First, I love the expression on Caelin's face. He looks possibly a little overwhelmed by the attention from Emmy. Second, I reeeally love the Harf birthday. Not only will she drop Rs, but hopefully pick up the excellent Boston tradition of adding those dropped Rs back in where they have no business being. I have no idear why you would be concerned about this :-)
