Familiar Faces

Last night we hosted dinner at our apartment for two of Brian's US colleagues. John and Derek flew in for a big group meeting but snuck away from the optional dinner to join us. Emily and Tess fell all over each other doing dances, telling stories and generally trying to impress our guests. You could tell they were really excited to see some familiar faces - particularly since both men are dads of girls about the kids' ages. Brian teased me that while I was outwardly quite calm he could tell I was every bit as thrilled to see friends from home. 

We enjoyed a summer themed meal of pasta salad with homemade pesto, fresh corn, and sausages and kebabs on the barbecue. We ate on the balcony and drank local Balmain beer. It was lovely. We can't wait to share all this with Nina and Grampi as well when they arrive on Friday.
