Home

Crepes with fresh fruit, maple syrup, and ice cream. Lucky girls!
I still find it strange to wake up here and I imagine the girls must feel the same. We've been working hard to make things feel homey. We do that by walking familiar routes through town. This morning we walked up by where the girls will go to school, grabbed a yummy breakfast outside, went to the grocery store, and walked home. Sound familiar? It's what we do most days.

The girls still draw a lot and carry their baby dolls everywhere. Today at breakfast Emily had her baby in a high chair next to her. Tess opted to bring a notebook and pen. She likes to scribble in it and tell us she's doing her homework for college. Today she drew a bird in a nest dreaming about having baby birds. Aw.

We also listen to a lot of music at home. Before we left we made Home by Philip Philips the anthem of our trip. We listened to it a lot and sang along loud to "make this place your home." Nowadays we've been favoring another song - Home by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. Its message that "home is wherever I'm with you" is equally fitting. I've included links to the videos so you can hum along and think of us drawing at the dining room table, mopping the floor, and doing ordinary everyday homey things - even in Australia.

We are counting the days until Monday when the movers arrive with our big shipment from home. This includes the rest of our summer clothes, the kids bikes, books, and lots of toys.
