Taronga Zoo Outing

Take a family picture with a koala. Check. We've been talking up this one for a while. We now have a family membership to the Taronga Zoo so I'm hoping we can make it a regular event. The girls enjoyed seeing the Australian wildlife. We got to see quite a few kangaroos - and take a picture to see how we measured up.

Emily got very into the planning aspect of the day. She pored over the map, circled things we wanted to see, checked things off that we had seen, and worked out the best routes in between. Between the pictures on the map and some basic reading skills she did remarkably well keeping track. Brian and I were happy to let her take the lead and we were quick to remind them that we're here for a while and we don't have to do everything the first day/week.

Getting to the zoo was half the fun. We took advantage of the Sunday Funday special whereby the whole family got an inexpensive all day pass on public transit. We walked, took two buses and four ferries and arrived back home tired and happy.

Not a bad way to kill time between the bus and the ferry
