Yesterday we spent all too much time inside in the a/c (or fretting about sunburn by the pool) so I was pleased to see today's weather return to the more typical high of 72 degrees. I decided the girls could use some old fashioned fun so we headed out to Luna Park - a restored 1930's era amusement park. They walked through the gigantic mouth, rode the kiddie rides and enjoyed a special ice cream treat. It felt good to see big smiles on their faces again.
We did our travel via bus and ferry. Those are entertainment in and of themselves. We stopped at Woolies for some groceries and walked the last mile home. The girls and I are averaging three to five miles of walking a day. (I know because Brian got me a FitBit for Christmas!) We live at the base of a big hill so almost all our walks start with a big trip up. That can be daunting for them in the morning but we always end with downhill. And then it's just three floors up to our apartment. I keep reminding them that walking gets easier the more you do it. It also helps that Brian has our car at work so there's no clear alternative. One day I'll work up the nerve to drive here and I'll make use of the car share location nearby but for now we're enjoying the scenic routes and the habit of grocery shopping every single day.
