Our playroom, now with even more babies, strollers, Lego, a doll house, and lots of stuffed friends |
The girls love having more playthings around so we're enjoying some down time at home this morning. I figure it'd be a good chance to take some photos of our new place. We really love it here. We have three bedrooms and three bathrooms - more than we were expecting to get. We've turned the third bedroom into a playroom for the kids. They love it and it helps to keep their stuff from invading every other corner of our space.
Brian and I have our own space upstairs with a loft style bedroom and bathroom. We also enjoy a view of downtown Sydney. It's fun to wake up to in the morning and makes for great lights at night. I like that you really feel close to the city here.
Thanks to all of you who commented either here or on Facebook. In some ways I'm doing this blog so we as a family can have something to look back on when this is all done. In other ways, I'm writing here as a way to connect with all of you who I miss who are far away. Blogging is new to me. I miss the easy Like feature of Facebook. Either way, the more you comment the more you can shape the kind of things I post.
I've heard some interest in more Aussie details - different foods and sayings and the like. I'll definitely keep an eye out for those and post some as we go. As for school timing, we have two more weeks of summer vacation before the girls start Kindie (aka Kindergarten) and 1st grade. We missed all the Kindergarten information sessions so I'm hoping to track down some other parents so I can find out basic info about uniforms, school lunches and what kind of shoes we'll need. For now I'm just happy that we've completed the paperwork that will allow us to enrol. (And yes, they spell enroll with only one l here.)

Our bedroom. I'm happy to have our sheets. I'd like to get something up on the wall as well. |

I love your place, so much light!!! I am amazed at how smoothly things have gone for you, it gives me hope for when Chris takes his sabbatical... he wants to go to Europe.
ReplyDeletegot your Christmas card, you always have the best family photos!
hugs to you all

Oooh, you could have a lot of fun in Europe! I have a new appreciation for how much work it must be to actually move with kids. I'd love to talk to you about living abroad. I'm sure by the end of our time here I'll have lots of thoughts on how to make it run smooth. So far so good here. Of course, we're not dealing with any language changes so that simplifies things a lot.
DeleteAlden has been into magic lately and today told me that for his latest trick he was going to make Tess come back. :(
ReplyDeleteHe also drew a picture for the girls which we will be sure to get in the mail this weekend.
Oh, that's adorable. If Tess could do magic I'm sure all her BCNS friends would be here with us. Plus she'd have a bunny and a cat. And Monty. And ice cream for all meals. Hi to Alden from us!
DeleteHey there,
ReplyDeleteHow about an expat- weird english smack down blog event! I could host it on my expat blog here: http://owncake.blogspot.co.uk/. You will notice that there are no postings. This is because haven't written any. [I called it "Bring Your Own Cake" after the British proclivity for one to bring one's own cake to the office on your birthday... crazy.] So, all that to say, I'm enjoying reliving the first days of our adventure through your adventure. Thanks!
