Out in Balmain

We now live in Balmain - a leafy suburb just a ten minute bus ride from downtown Sydney. Balmain is known for strollers and dog parks as well as sidewalk cafes and pubs. Today we walked up the hill to Darling Street to go to the Saturday morning outdoor market. This 3/4 of a mile walk will be our daily trip to school so it felt good to scout out the possible routes. We got a drink at one of the cafes, poked our head into some stores, grabbed a few groceries from Woolies (the grocery store is called Woolworths but people call it Woolies) and then walked back home. After that we had lunch outside, a little quiet time and then we'll have a dip in the pool. I could get used to this lifestyle!

I ordered an ice coffee and it came out as kind of a coffee float. Score!

Emily enjoyed a fruit smoothie and some raisin bread.

The narrow streets are great for walking and a little on the scary side for driving.
We live near the red pin. That whole peninsula is called Balmain.
