Trying times

Could a cappuccino that beautiful make up for a morning full of power struggles, ear piercing screams, epic meltdowns, and sibling fights? What if you drank it in a beautiful garden in quaint cafe that also offered loaner children's books? Well, it's a start.

Circle Cafe - one of my favorites
My eldest looking all innocent
The fresh air, exercise and stimulation of leaving the house helped as well. Still, I'm ready for the start of school. These kids need some friends and a set routine and I need a little personal space. In the mean time, I'll leave you with some pictures of the neat houses we passed on our walk into town. I really do love it here.
Check out the old iron railings on the upper porches.
You also get a sense of the slope of the roads.
I love all the overflowing gardens.

  1. Sorry that things are feeling trying. If it's any consolation, remember that even parents whose kids have friends and school schedules are experiencing the same thing... and they have no good excuse! Hope you guys can keep it all together until school starts. I'm sure things will feel dramatically different then.

    1. Thanks Sarah! That is a good reminder. I know the kids act out more under stress but even without a big move there are always stressors (even just boredom!) that bring out these kind of days.

  2. Sending hugs and wishes for calmer/happier mornings to come. It is a tough way to start the day, but as your friend Sarah says above, we all go through it.

Are you able to watch the inauguration? I am curious how it is covered in Australia(if much at all).

    1. We are watching the inauguration now (9pm in Aus). It feels strange to hear an Australian voice chime in from time to time to explain things.
